REBORN AS CATS was created to give a voice to artists who bring their music to life through hardware. our label is more than distributing audio recordings; our aim is to foster a collective of musicians who share a dedication to the art of live performance. by building this community, we believe that we can create unique opportunities that extend far beyond the traditional label model.
we acknowledge that joining a brand new label like REBORN AS CATS involves a degree of trust. we don't have a massive marketing budget or the established reach of larger labels yet. what we do have is a vision to become an internationally recognized name for live electronic music within the next ten years.
we champion artists who find freedom in improvising with their electronic instruments—whether vintage drum machines, custom scripts, self-assembled synths, or voice transformation software—to create and perform music. while our acts may sculpt their releases in a daw, the collective prioritizes live performance as the foundation of one's sound.
we're drawn to genres that naturally lend themselves to live improvisation, including—using intentionally broad terms—ambient, noise, and techno.
as we love the tactile feel of analog synthesizers, we also appreciate the tangible connection that physical products offer. eventually, we are going to explore limited edition releases—vinyl, cassettes, or other unique formats—to create a more immersive and collectible experience for listeners.
we also know that improvised performance is more than a fleeting moment; recorded on tape, it's a lasting, monetizible asset. REBORN AS CATS will increasingly focus on long-form performance video as a release format in the coming years.

what we ask for
we seek to build a strong, long-term partnership with our artists. we're looking for musicians who share our passion for live electronic music and are committed to growing their career with us.
our expectations:
- a spirit of collaboration: we want to work with you. this means open communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to actively participate in content creation, release promotion, and the overall development of your career. we'll present a rough plan for each release, so you know what exactly we will be expecting from you in advance. we also encourage our artists to support each other, attend each other's gigs (when possible), and contribute to the growth of the collective.
- long-term vision: we're looking for artists who are committed to building a lasting career (which does not require being a full-time musician!), in general, and with us as your allies. while not a contractual obligation, we hope to work with you on multiple projects over time; ideally, one release per year. this allows us to invest in your growth and build a cohesive label identity.
- live performance focus: we expect you to be a live electronic musician who incorporates hardware synthesizers (and/or other music gear, we intentionally keep this part vague) into your live performances. this is central to our label's identity. we expect performance footage as part of the assets you provide us with for release promotion. we also will appreciate it if you are comfortable with having your image (face) associated with your music and the label, which is important for promotional purposes.
- format: our primary focus is on releasing EPs, LPs, compilations, and live sets—substantial bodies of work. singles may be a part of a release strategy.
label deal:
these are the key points that are formalized in the artist agreement:
royalty split: we operate on a 50/50 net profit split basis. "net profit" is all income generated by your release (from digital sales, streaming, physical sales) minus the direct, verifiable, agreed-upon costs associated with your release (like manufacturing, distribution, marketing expenses). the remaining amount is then split equally between REBORN AS CATS and the artist.
publishing rights: if the artist chooses so, REBORN AS CATS will administer publishing for the released songs, with a 90/10 (artist/RBRNSCTS) split.
reversion of rights: the rights to the masters revert back to the artist after 10 years and once the agreement is terminated.
